February 1, 2008 - The Band sounds off to support Lancaster's American Spirit Parade. The following letter appeared in the Lancaster New Era newspaper on this date:

"To the Editor:

This letter is in response to an article in the New Era dated January 19 concerning the American Spirit Parade scheduled for April 26 of this year in Lancaster. Apparently the parade is in jeopardy as the result of a shortage of funds. The organizers have stated that 'The thing with parades nowadays is bands don't just show up for the fun of it. You have to pay them.' In reference to that statement, I would like to say, on behalf of the General Reynolds Cornet Band of Conestoga, a community band, that The General Reynolds Cornet Band would be happy to participate in the parade without payment. The Band, a reorganization of a historic band which existed between 1867 and 1950 has been reestablished to provide the enjoyment of a band to the community and to provide fun and enjoyment for those who play in the band. The band has certain expenses, which are customarily covered through donations to the band, but for a patriotic parade such as the proposed one, we will gladly play free of charge and enjoy every minute of it.
